One of the following courses, dependent upon need and/or qualification:
GRMN 1001 - Elementary German I (no previous knowledge of German necessary)
GRMN 1002 – Elementary German II (for students who have successfully completed GRMN 1001 or the equivalent at another institution)
GRMN 2001 - Intermediate German I (for students who have successfully completed one year of elementary German (GRMN 1001 and 1002 at UGA) or the equivalent at another institution).
GRMN 2002 – Intermediate German II (for students who have completed the first 3 semesters of German at UGA or the equivalent at another institution).
GRMN 3010 – Language: Culture and Society I (for students who have successfully completed the second year of college German (GRMN 2001 and 2002) or the equivalent at another institution).
GRMN 4001 – Advanced German Conversation and Composition
And all students must enroll in the following course:
GRMN 3550 – Contemporary Issues in German Culture, Society, and Literature (taught in English)
NOTE: Directed study credit may also be offered under special circumstances, subject to permission of the instructor.

Orientation in April at UGA
The larger theme of this study abroad experience is “Freiburg Green City: Environmentalism and Sustainable Urban Development in Freiburg.” In addition to culturally significant excursions in and around Freiburg, there will also be several educational excursions to solar tech companies and sustainable living communities in the area.
